During the time period 1st January - 31st December 2007 NIPU will undertake programmes focusing on the current status of the problem of national integration in Sri Lanka:

1. National Reconciliation through inter religious dialogues
2. National Integration through language and culture
3. National Integration through the promotion of public culture of pluralism
4. National Integration through constructive handling of differences and conflicts
5. Promotion of national reconciliation among the war-affected North-East communities
6. Sinhala-Tamil integration in the Plantation areas
7. Coordination, Monitoring and Research Unit at NIPU

   Strengthen the internal mechanisms for planning, monitoring and programme evaluation so that NIPU will be able to achieve its National Integration goals more effectively and fruitfully.
   
   
3. Objectives/ Activities
   
   
   • Coordinate, monitor and review NIPU activities on a regular basis
     
     
   • Undertake quarterly and annual feedback workshops
     
     
   • Facilitate independent evaluations on the overall performance of NIPU with the assistance of independent evaluators
     
     
   • Prepare plans and frameworks for re-organization of on-going programmes
     
     
   • Hold awareness-raising/capacity-building programmes on monitoring & evaluation for the benefit of partners, coordinators & NIPU programme implementers
     
     
   • Organize staff development programmes for the NIPU staff in order to develop their managerial and other skills
     
   • 
     Strengthen NIPU’s research capacity in order to make informed decisions regarding policy formulation and policy implementation activities of NIPU
     
     
   • Encourage research by outsiders on subjects which come under the purview of NIPU
     
     
   • Prepare Quarterly Progress Reports, Financial Statements and Annual Progress Reports and Activity Plans
     
     
   • Maintain and develop the NIPU library and the Documentation Center
     
     
   • Publish Newsletters and Occasional Papers for dissemination of knowledge & for networking purposes
     
     
   • Undertake NIPU’s media and publicity programmes
