National Integration Activities | Mobile Service | National Integration Program Unit
 

During the time period 1st January - 31st December 2007 NIPU will undertake programmes focusing on the current status of the problem of national integration in Sri Lanka:

1. National Reconciliation through inter religious dialogues
2. National Integration through language and culture
3. National Integration through the promotion of public culture of pluralism
4. National Integration through constructive handling of differences and conflicts
5. Promotion of national reconciliation among the war-affected North-East communities
6. Sinhala-Tamil integration in the Plantation areas
7. Coordination, Monitoring and Research Unit at NIPU



  Programme No-01 :
 
  1. Name of the programme
    National Reconciliation through Inter-religious dialogues

  2. Goal
    Promotion of sustainable ethnic harmony, peace and national integration in Sri
    Lanka by creating conducive environment for Inter-faith dialogues highlighting the
    common features of religions in Sri Lanka

  3. Objectives
    • Formation of Advisory Board which consists of religious leaders, key persons of the relevant ministries, departments, institutions and civil organizations to guide the programme implementation and identify the new strategies that can be applied in the programme Implementation

    • Setting up of District or Divisional level Core Groups comprising representatives of the Partner Organizations (POs)

    • Conduct national and provincial level workshops for regional level religious heads, key persons of government, non government organizations and media personnel

    • Publishing a series of booklets, pamphlets and new letters on national integration, peace, cultural and democratic values from a religious perspective by religious leader

    • Conducting of a series of discussions by means of TV and Radio channels to enhance the knowledge of the general public about the building of a peaceful country with the participation of religious leaders
    • Conduct inter-religious events, discourses, prayers, meditations with public gatherings
