Final tests – 01st semester 2007.

Final tests of the aforesaid courses of the 01st semester 2007 will be held from 08th June 2007 – 20th June 2007. The final tests have two components – A 03 hour written paper + 15 minutes oral test. These tests are conducted by independent examiners to ensure transparency and impartiality. Minimum of 35 marks has to be obtained in each of the component to get a pass mark. However continual assessments are made by way of fortnightly tests and marks obtained are entered in the students’ progress cards. 12 homework assignment marks are also given within the semester to assess their progress in the written component & these marks are entered in the homework assignment report. If a student obtains a mark between 30 – 34 in either component & fail to obtain a pass mark to qualify for an award of a certificate his/her homework marks + progress marks are given due consideration & if the Commissioner deems fit that the candidate should be awarded a certificate such award will be awarded. Reason for such award will be indicated in the transcript sent to the candidate.

Enrolment for the 02nd semester 2007.

The advertisements will be inserted in the Silumina / Varimanjari and the Sunday Observer in all three languages in compliance with the policy of the Department of Official Languages on the 10th June 2007 calling for enrolment for the 02nd semester 2007. All prospective enrollees must comply with the stipulations given in the aforesaid advertisement.

Walk in interviews will be held on 21st June 2007 on the 02nd floor of the
“Bhasha Mandiraya”- the Department of Official Languages from 9.00a.m – 5.00p.m.

Date of commencement of classes  :- July 05th (Thursday) 2007

Trilingual Dictionary Section to Supply Tamil and English equivalents to Sinhala Head words
  • Preparation part II of the Practical Trilingual Dictionary for printing (with Sinhala Headwords) from ‘à’ to ‘µ¤
  • (a) The 2nd edition of  Part I of the Practical Trilingual Dictionary was published.
    (b) Part I of the Practical Trilingual Dictionary with Tamil Headwords was published.
To facilitate the Sinhala learners in learning English and Tamil and Vice versa
  • Supplying Sinhala Headwords from ‘è’ to ‘}’ of Part III of Practical Trilingual Dictionary to Advisory Committee for Finalizing.
  • 2nd proof of the Practical Trilingual Dictionary Part II is being read. (from ‘à’ to ‘µ¤’)
 
  • Supplying Sinhala Headwords from è’ to ‘ý’ of Part III of Practical Trilingual Dictionary to Tamil Advisory Committee for finalizing.
  • Sinhala Headwords (from ‘è’ to ‘}’) finalized by Sinhala Advisory Committee, The Sinhala Headwords from è’ to ‘ý’ have been finalized by the Tamil Advisory Committee.
   
  • Headwords from è’ to ‘ý’ are being prepared putting diacritical marks and computerized.
