Constitutional Affairs

The Constitutional Affairs Division is engaged in building public awareness of the need for urgent constitutional changes to meet the social and political shortcomings of the existing constitution and the need for changes so that a new constitutional order conducive for peace and democracy is established.

For this purpose it has taken several initiatives to carry out a dialogue regarding the need for constitutional change among a cross-section of intellectuals, elected representatives of the people, both at the national and local levels, the clergy of different religions, and members of civil society.

An awareness building pamphlet was prepared in Sinhala titled "The Constitution: What should be done and how?"
